Museum Opening

abmuseum 2 bw

The museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays, public holidays and school holidays from 2pm to 5pm and at other times by prior arrangement for group visits.

It includes displays of relics from some of the shipwrecks and ships that were essentially the primary means of access before the Great Ocean Road and of the life of what was an extremely isolated community.

Books and family histories

The museum has a very extensive range of histories of the people who created and sustained this remote community.
Many books about the area, its people, life and the shipwrecks are available for sale, for example:
Journal of an Expedition to Cape Otway (1863)
     The Loch Ard Disaster
Shipwrecks Along the Great Ocean Road

Battler By the Bay - memoirs of Albert Stanford

If you have information about the Bay's past we'd be very grateful if you could share it with us.
