And The ARIA Goes To MATTY O!!; First Nations Peoples Celebration Day; Round Ball Rumble; Positions Vacant
28th November 2022

Australia now knows just how good our own Matty Orchard is after he was the toast of the ARIA Awards with his Music Teacher of the Year gong last week. Matty O and wife Anna strolled the red carpet, rubbed shoulders with Australian rock royalty, and our own king of the kids chewed the fat with the Wiggles in Sydney. We are so proud of the head of our House of Rock for his efforts and taking the school on this incredible journey to an ARIA Award.

Gadubanud Country has extra meaning for our staff and students following the success of Apollo Bay P-12 College’s inaugural First Nations Peoples Celebration Day. Last Thursday was devoted to Indigenous culture, with First Nations people, including Richard and Pete Collopy, Nat Morrow, Aidan Davey and Mick Cannon, helping students through cultural activities, including dance, Mangrook Games, cultural stories, cooking, gardening, painting and more. Well done to Tim Nolan, Niamh McGleenon and staff for all their hard work.

While the World Cup is still in its group stages in Qatar, we have winners in our version of soccer’s biggest stage… well sort of. Host nation Qatar won the primary school section, while France and Argentina couldn’t be separated even after reaching penalties in the secondary tournament. The recess and lunch time competition was a huge hit this term, with our principal Brian Humphries refereeing games and staff members joining the kids in the First Nations Peoples Celebration Day.

If you’re interested in joining our awesome school community, please turn to the Employment section to find out what positions are available at the school in 2023.
