Cr Jason Schram to serve second term as Colac Otway Shire Mayor
November 14, 2019

Colac Otway Shire Council has re-elected Cr Jason Schram as Mayor for a second term and Cr Joe McCracken as Deputy Mayor.

Cr Schram said he was honoured to serve a second term and was looking forward to continuing to lead Colac Otway with the support of Cr McCracken as deputy and his fellow councillors.

The local businessman and father of three was elected to Colac Otway Shire Council in 2016, elected Mayor in November 2018 and is currently serving on the Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel.

Cr McCracken, a secondary teacher in Colac, was also elected to Colac Otway Shire Council in 2016, served as Mayor in 2017-18, and elected Deputy Mayor for 2018-19 and 2019-20.

Cr Schram said he had enjoyed the past year, particularly working and meeting with so many locals contribute to the community and make Colac Otway Shire such a great place to live.

“Being re-elected as Mayor will give me an opportunity to use the knowledge and experience I have gained over the past 12 months to follow through with commitments and projects, and continue to lead the Council during this progressive time for Colac Otway.

“I am proud of what Council has already achieved and I am looking forward to what our shire can achieve over the next year.

“I am determined to continue working with the State Government to reach agreement on the former Colac High School site so Council can develop a master plan for future community use.

“Our Council is looking forward to hosting the 2020 AFL Marsh Community Series match at Colac Central Reserve, which will showcase Colac and the shire to Australia and provide our community with a national sporting event on their doorstep.

“Our shire also has almost unprecedented opportunities for growth and development, and with Council’s strategic vision, I believe we are well positioned to take full advantage of those opportunities,” he said.

“Colac Otway has strong industries, offers a really diverse range of career opportunities, has fantastic health, sporting and educations facilities and we are fortunate to be part of a supportive, positive community.”
