Have Your Say On Road Management
March 16, 2021

Colac Otway Shire residents and road users are encouraged to have their say on the shire’s revised Road Management Plan, which is currently on public exhibition.

Council’s Road Management Plan has been revised, as required by the new council under the Road Management Act 2004, and is now out for community feedback.

Colac Otway Shire Mayor Councillor Kate Hanson said Council had carried out an internal review process, and numerous minor changes had been proposed to improve road management, in line with current legislation.

The Road Management Plan sets the service standards that relate to levels of risk that are reasonable for road-related assets with regards to the safe function of road assets, and cost-effective maintenance.

Road-related assets include roads, kerbs, footpaths, signs, linemarking, and other traffic management devices.

Cr Hanson said feedback from the community on the plan, and particularly the changes that have been made, is a key part of the revision process.

“Our community understandably takes a great deal of interest in our roads and footpaths and I encourage people to tell us if they are happy with our plan to manage maintenance of our roads.

The revised draft plan will remain on exhibition via the Council website until April 9.
