Revised code sets high standard of professionalism for councillors

Mayor Chris Potter says that Colac Otway Shire Council’s revised Code of Conduct sets a high standard of professionalism for councillors.
Council adopted the revised code at a special meeting yesterday, reaffirming a commitment to working productively with each other, the organisation and the community.
Six councillors have already signed the code and Cr Potter said he was pleased the code won majority support in the chamber.
“As was discussed in the chamber last night, there is nothing in this code that will prevent councillors from interacting with residents and ratepayers and serving the community to the best of their abilities.
“Now the revised code is adopted we’ll be turning our attention to important business such as our 2017-18 budget, and the development of long-term strategies such as the Council Plan and Colac 2050.”
