Tickets for Geelong-Essendon match to go on sale at end of January

Tickets for the Geelong-Essendon JLT Community Series blockbuster at Colac’s Central Reserve are due to go on sale at the end of January.
And Colac this week secured an AFL community camp in the lead up to the JLT Community Series match, with the Cats players to put our local up-and-coming footy stars through their paces.
Mayor Joe McCracken said the Central Reserve could potentially attract between 8000 and 10,000 people, and that excitement was building ahead of ticket sales opening.
“We’ve had lots of people ask us where they can get tickets, and the latest advice we’ve received is that they’ll go on sale at the end of January via Ticketmaster. We’ll let the community know as soon as the AFL advises us of the exact date,” Cr McCracken said.
Cr McCracken said a team of Council staff had been working closely with AFL to ensure everything was in place for a superb day.
Cr Jason Schram said there would be many opportunities for the community to come on board to create a festival atmosphere in Colac on March 11.
“We’ve spoken to the Colac and District Chamber of Commerce to discuss how our local businesses can leverage off the event. We’re hoping the main street will be open for business on that Sunday to really add value to the game,” Cr Schram said.
“The Colac Tigers will be running the bar on match day, which will be a great fundraiser for them; and the CDFNL clubs will have opportunities to do the catering. Having both these groups involved is a great acknowledgement of the significant financial contributions they made to the Central Reserve redevelopment, and also the way they partnered with Council to deliver the project which ultimately lead to us securing the JLT game for Colac.
“Christian’s Bus Company will be running busses from Geelong, Warrnambool and Ararat, and we’re also in discussions with Public Transport Victoria to see if they will schedule extra trains or buses for the game.
“Council is open to suggestions about how our local businesses and community groups can benefit from this event. We’ve had ideas ranging from a farmer’s market in Memorial Square to a retail sale and a match day breakfast.”
A detailed turf management regime is being rolled out to ensure the Central Reserve playing surface is in top condition for the JLT match.
