Virtual Fitness Classes a first for Bluewater Leisure Centre
November 29, 2017

Bluewater Leisure Centre is excited to announce it will launch a range of Les Mills Virtual Group Fitness classes from 1 December.

The virtual classes will provide a boost to the facility’s regular ‘live’ group fitness classes with an extra 65 classes available for members and guests each week.

Les Mills Virtual Group Fitness is an automated fitness class with the instructor projected onto a large screen. The fully automated system allows for a greater variety of classes to be available at different times of the day. The instructors in the video are rated as some of the best in the world.

Bluewater Leisure Centre Manager John Clark said the introduction of Les Mills virtual was the result of wanting to provide the community access with a greater range of group fitness classes.

“Council and Bluewater are striving to provide our residents with more options and better accessibility when it comes to health and wellness. Through this innovative system we will deliver an incredible amount of class options at a very broad range of times.

“We’re really excited to introduce this technology to Bluewater. No other neighboring regional council has taken these steps so it’s great Colac residents have access to this system much earlier than larger surrounding towns such as Ballarat and Geelong, and even metropolitan Melbourne,” John said.

The new classes on offer include a weights class called Body Pump, a martial arts inspired Body Combat, a group cycling class RPM, as well as a dance class called Sh’Bam, and Body Balance which is a fusion of Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi.

John said he hoped the new range of classes would increase visitation from current members and attract a new customer base who might have never tried group fitness before.

“We trialled the technology with a group training session last week and participants loved the classes.

“We won’t be removing any of the live classes from the current timetable. We are simply making it easier to access group fitness and providing an exciting range of class types,” John said.

In addition to Virtual Group Fitness, Bluewater has begun reorientation of the gym floor to make room for additional functional training equipment to keep up with industry trends and deliver best practice products and services to the community.
