Apollo Bay Seniors Hall Update

Colac Otway Shire has changed the structure of committees that manage community assets in the municipal district. For this reason, the Apollo Bay Seniors Hall User Group Committee intends to form an incorporated Community Asset Committee to manage the running of this community facility. This will enable access to future funding opportunities and gives the community greater control over the asset. The process of transitioning to an incorporated body will take most of the year and will be supported by the Colac Otway Shire. Whilst the Colac Otway Shire retains ownership of the building, they have committed to ongoing support including ongoing payment of insurances and maintenance, among other costs. Both parties will enter into a formal agreement once arrangements and responsibilities are agreed, and this may include a transitional period. The Apollo Bay Seniors Hall User Group Committee sees this as an important step in ensuring the Hall remains an accessible asset for the community well into the future and that the recent improvements to the facility can be maintained for the long term.

Public invitations to join the committee will be issued later in the year. For more information or to register your interest in joining the committee, please contact:
