Traffic Alert - Great Ocean Road

VicRoads would like to remind the Great Ocean Road community of nightworks east of Separation Creek this Monday 28 November, which require an overnight closure.
Updates on the urgent asphalt repairs, as well as the Great Victorian Bike Ride and landlisde stabilisation works are below.
Traffic Alert
VicRoads advises drivers of necessary night works on the Great Ocean Road, east of Separation Creek, on Monday 28 November. Maintenance crews will close the road at the landslide site from 9pm on Monday night to 5am Tuesday morning to relay asphalt on the eastbound lane, adjacent to the current work zone.
Maintenance crews have also identified some urgent surface repairs required on the Great Ocean Road just east of Sarsfield Street in Separation Creek. Works will commence at this location from 6pm, however vehicles will be able to travel through the area under traffic management. Expect minor delays and some associated noise. These works are expected to take three hours before crews move further east to the landslide site.
Traffic controllers will be stationed at Lorne and Skenes Creek during the works to explain detour options, most likely via Deans Marsh and Forrest. Limited local access from Lorne to Cumberland River and Skenes Creek to Separation Creek will also be available.
We apologise for any inconvenience and encourage drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Great Victorian Bike Ride
The Great Victorian Bike Ride will spend four days on the Great Ocean Road. Riders will reach the 12 Apostles on Tuesday 29 November before heading to Apollo Bay on Wednesday, enjoying a rest day on Thursday and continuing on to Bellbrae on Friday.
For the safety of riders, the Great Ocean Road will be closed on Friday December 2 between Skenes Creek and Lorne from 8am to 1.30pm. The eastbound lane of the Great Ocean Road will be closed between Lorne and Fairhaven from midday to 3pm.
Works
Paddy’s Path
Drivers might have noticed increased activity at the landslide site over the weekend. More steel soldier piles have been anchored into the ground, creating the frame for the concrete panels. Despite recent wet weather, construction is still on track to be completed by Christmas.

Weather
Recent rain has not caused any significant movement at Paddy’s Path. This morning, the alert phase for the site was downgraded from orange (closely monitor) to green (monitor) as we don’t expect predicted showers to trigger the threshold for a road closure. However, we will not hesitate to act if movement is detected and safety is compromised.

Community
A temporary site compound has been established in Separation Creek near Sarsfield Street. Due to community feedback, the compound will be moved to a more discrete location next month.
