COSGourmet Traveller’s 2016 Chef of the Year Dan Hunter headlines ANZ Business Breakfast
November 16, 2016

Colac Otway Shire Council is delighted to host multi-award winning chef Dan Hunter of Brae as keynote speaker at this year’s ANZ Business Breakfast on 6 December.

Mr Hunter is one of Australia’s most renowned chefs, having started his cooking career in Melbourne in 2000, and led Dunkeld’s Royal Mail Hotel to its Three-Hat status.

Council’s Economic Development Officer Katrina Kehoe said Mr Hunter’s multiple achievements across his career, including the many culinary awards achieved at Brae, made him an extraordinary candidate to headline this year’s event.

“Dan Hunter’s Brae at Birregurra is unquestionably one of the best restaurants in Australia,” she said.

“Earlier this year Brae was announced as the 65th best restaurant in the world by the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards,” she said.

“To be able to showcase such success in our region is enviable. We’re thrilled Dan has offered to share his personal experiences and professional achievements as he progressed in his career, culminating in the gem that’s Brae.”

Brae is Dan’s first solo venture and since its opening has held a Three Hat status. Ms Kehoe said that Dan and his team had worked incredibly hard to deliver a unique offering, not only to our region, but to Australia and indeed the world.

“The breakfast event is an opportunity to hear how Dan’s commitment to organic sustainable farming and cooking, using local and ethically grown produce, has resulted in such astounding achievements as The Australian Financial Review’s 2016 Top Chef and The Age Good Food Guide’s 2016 Chef of the Year, among others.

“Council is pleased to continue its partnership with ANZ to deliver top guest speakers at this popular event, and we encourage people to book early to avoid missing out.”
