Council's annual report receives gold at Australasian awards
July 25, 2016

Colac Otway Shire Council's 2014-15 annual report has received gold honours at the annual Australasian Reporting Awards.

Council achieved a gold award alongside larger leading organisations such as CSIRO, City of Melbourne, Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Woodside Petroleum Limited.

The ARA's criteria is based on international best practice and provides an opportunity for organisations to benchmark their reports against other organisations.

Gold, silver and bronze awards recognise excellence in reporting. A gold award must meet the highest standard and be considered a model report that other organisations can benchmark against.

Chief Executive Officer Sue Wilkinson said the accolades were a testament to Council's commitment to transparent and quality reporting.

"While the content of the annual report is an organisation wide collaboration, two individuals in particular, our Corporate Development Officer Margaret Giudice; and People, Performance and Culture Manager Carmen Lawrence, have worked incredibly hard to shape it into a gold award winning document," Ms Wilkinson said.

"Being able to deliver a high quality document is more than just a requirement of the Local Government Act and winning awards. The true value is in giving our community and stakeholders a thorough and accountable outline of our performance as judged against key targets.

"We are constantly striving to achieve best practice in reporting, and the gold award is acknowledgement that we are on the right track.

"I encourage our community to read the 2014-15 annual report, if they haven't already," he said.
